Apple Unveils iPhone 16 Series, AirPods 4, and Apple Watch Series 10 at Glowtime Event 2024

Apple’s eagerly anticipated Glowtime event 2024 lived up to expectations with the unveiling of several new products, including the iPhone 16 series, AirPods 4, and the Apple Watch Series 10. Here’s a comprehensive overview of the highlights from this year’s showcase.

iPhone 16 and iPhone 16 Plus

Apple introduced the iPhone 16 series, featuring the standard iPhone 16 and the larger iPhone 16 Plus. The iPhone 16 starts at ₹79,900 in India, while the iPhone 16 Plus begins at ₹89,900. Both models offer up to 512GB of storage and are available in black, white, pink, teal, and ultramarine. Pre-orders commence on September 13, with official sales starting on September 20.

The iPhone 16 features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display, boasting up to 2,000 nits of peak brightness and enhanced Ceramic Shield protection. The iPhone 16 Plus has a 6.7-inch display with similar specs. Both devices are powered by the 3nm A18 chipset, which includes a 6-core CPU, 5-core GPU, and a 16-core neural engine. Running on iOS 18, these models introduce advanced Apple Intelligence features first demonstrated at WWDC 2024.

In terms of camera capabilities, the iPhone 16 series includes a 48-megapixel wide-angle lens, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 12-megapixel TrueDepth front camera. Notably, these devices support Spatial video and photo capture. Connectivity features include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and a USB Type-C port.

iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max

The iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max were the stars of the show, with prices starting at ₹1,19,900 and ₹1,44,900, respectively. Available in up to 1TB of storage, these flagship models come in new color options: Desert Titanium, Natural Titanium, White Titanium, and Black Titanium. Pre-orders for these models also start on September 13, with sales beginning on September 20.

Both the Pro and Pro Max models are powered by the second-generation 3nm A18 Pro chip, offering substantial performance upgrades. The iPhone 16 Pro features a 6.3-inch display, while the Pro Max boasts a 6.9-inch screen, both with a 120Hz Super Retina XDR OLED display and 2,000 nits peak brightness.

Camera enhancements include a 48-megapixel wide lens, a 12-megapixel ultrawide lens, and a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with up to 5x optical zoom. The front-facing 12-megapixel TrueDepth camera supports 4K 120fps recording. These models also feature an Action button and a new Capture button for quick camera access. Connectivity options include 5G, Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth, GPS, NFC, and a USB 3.0 Type-C port, with fast charging capabilities of up to 27W via wired connection and 15W with MagSafe or Qi2 wireless charging.

AirPods 4

Apple also introduced the AirPods 4, available in two versions: with and without Active Noise Cancellation (ANC). Priced at $129 (approximately ₹11,000) for the non-ANC version and $179 (around ₹15,000) for the ANC variant, the AirPods 4 are available for pre-order starting today, with sales commencing on September 20.

The new AirPods 4 are powered by the Apple H2 chip and feature a redesigned acoustic architecture for improved sound quality. The earbuds support advanced features like personalized spatial audio, adaptive audio, and conversational awareness. They come with gesture controls, including nodding to answer calls, and a USB Type-C charging case that offers up to 30 hours of total playtime and supports wireless charging.

Apple Watch Series 10 and Watch Ultra 2

Rounding out the event, Apple unveiled the Apple Watch Series 10 and Apple Watch Ultra 2. The Apple Watch Series 10 starts at $399 (roughly ₹33,000) for the GPS model, while the LTE version is priced at $499. The Apple Watch Ultra 2, now available in a Black Titanium color, is priced at $799 (approximately ₹67,000). Both models are available for pre-order today, with sales starting on September 20.

The Apple Watch Series 10 features a new wide-angle OLED display with rounded corners and the largest display ever for the standard Apple Watch series. It is 40% brighter than previous models and is the thinnest at just 9.7mm. Powered by the new S10 chipset, the Series 10 introduces a sleep apnea detection feature using the watch’s accelerometer to monitor breathing patterns.

The Apple Watch Ultra 2 maintains its rugged design and adds a new color option, along with advanced health and performance monitoring features and faster charging capabilities.

Apple’s Glowtime event 2024 set the stage for another year of innovation, with its latest products continuing to push the boundaries of technology and design.
