Samsung on Dated 21st December 2022 declare the development of 16 GB DDR5(DRAM) built using first 12 nm class process technology. “Samsung’s 12 nanometre range DRAM will be a key enabler in driving markets adoption of DDR5 DRAM,” said Jooyoung Lee, Executive Vice President of DRAM Product & Technology at Samsung Electronics. He also says “With the extraordinary performance and power productivity, we all believe our new DRAM to serve as the foundation for more viable operations in areas such as next-generation computing, Artificial Intelligence and data centres driven systems.”

“Innovation often needed close collaboration with industry partners to force the bounds of technology,” said Joe Macri, Senior VP, Corporate Fellow and Client, Compute and Graphics Chief Technology Officer at AMD. “We are very happy to announce again collaborating with Samsung, particularly on launching DDR5 memory products that are optimized and validated on ‘Zen’ platforms.”

This technological innovation was made possible by use of a new high ‘K’ material that enhances cell capacitance and proprietary design technology that improve critical circuit characteristics. Incorporate with advance multi-layer extreme ultraviolet lithography, the new DRAM features is the highest in the industry which enables a more then 20 percent gain in wafer productivity.

Leveraging the newest upcoming DDR5 standard, Samsung’s 12 nanometres class DRAM will help release speeds of up to 7.2 Gbps. This technology will convert into processing two 30 GB UHD movies in just one second. This speed is super-fast.

The new DRAM’s extra ordinary speed is matched by biggest power efficiency. Consuming up to twenty three percent less power than the older DRAM, the 12 nanometre class DRAM will be an perfect solution for world of IT companies pursuing more environment-friendly operations.

In 2023 mass production will start, Samsung set plans to broaden its DRAM line-up built on this cutting-edge 12 nanometre class process technology into a large range of market segments as it proceed to work with industry partners to support the fast expansion of next-generation computing.
