Oppo Find N2 Flip Goes Global, Challenging Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 as the New Bendy Phone Contender

Chinese Smartphone Manufacturer Oppo Expands Its Bendy Phone Portfolio with the Oppo Find N2 Flip’s Global Launch

After releasing a couple of foldable smartphones, Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has emerged as one of the most exciting companies producing bendy phones, and its latest addition to the Find N series proves just that. The Oppo Find N2 Flip was first announced for the Chinese market in December last year. However, during an event held in London, the company confirmed that the phone would be available in several other markets worldwide.

Vertical Flip Design and Larger Cover Screen

The Oppo Find N2 Flip is aptly named since it folds vertically, unlike the original Find N models that have a tablet-like design. Nevertheless, the Find N2 Flip shares similarities with its predecessors, including its tight folding design that minimizes the risk of dust settling on the display.

One standout feature of the Oppo Find N2 Flip is its cover screen, which is the largest of any phone of this type, measuring 3.26 inches. The larger cover screen provides more functionality without opening the main display. Unfolding the phone reveals a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 2520 x 1080, featuring a 120Hz refresh rate.

Impressive Hardware

The Oppo Find N2 Flip is the first foldable phone from Oppo to be available outside of China. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 9000+ chipset, but the exact RAM and storage capacity of the global version have not been confirmed. However, one variant of the phone features 8GB of RAM and 256GB of storage.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip has a 4,300mAh battery that supports 44W fast charging. Additionally, it features a 50MP main camera with a Sony IMX890 sensor and an 8MP ultra-wide Sony IMX355. The inner display houses a 32MP selfie shooter.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip operates on the ColorOS 13 operating system, and the company has ensured that the phone will receive software updates for up to four years and security upgrades for five years. This pledge was made by Oppo towards the end of 2022, and the Oppo Find N2 Flip is the first phone to deliver on this commitment.

In terms of connectivity, the Oppo Find N2 Flip supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, and 5G, allowing for fast and reliable data transfer and network connectivity. The device has a sleek and slim design, measuring 166 x 75 x 7.4mm and weighing 191g. There are two colour choices available: Moonlit Purple and Astral Black.

Challenging the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4

While it’s too soon to render a final judgement, the Oppo Find N2 Flip appears to be a serious challenger to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4‘s throne. Priced in the UK at £849), the phone is less expensive than its nearest rival.

One of the highlights of the Oppo Find N2 Flip is its outer display, which shows more information than the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4. Though it is limited in use, users can easily respond to messages, control phone settings, view the time, and pause audio.

The Oppo Find N2 Flip folds vertically, unlike the tablet-like design of its predecessor models. The folding mechanism is similar, with a tight design that leaves less room for dust to settle on the display than some competitor’s devices.

Large cover screen

With a cover screen of 3.26 inches, the Oppo Find N2 Flip boasts the largest external display among all foldable phones, providing users with additional features and functions without requiring them to open the main screen. The device’s primary 6.8-inch AMOLED display offers a 120Hz refresh rate and 2520 x 1080 resolution, promising a vivid and smooth viewing experience.

Updates and security

Oppo has confirmed that the device will receive four years of updates and five years of security upgrades, making the Oppo Find N2 Flip an attractive option for consumers looking for longevity and security in their devices.

Competing with Samsung

Oppo is positioning the Find N2 Flip as a formidable contender in the highly competitive foldable smartphone market, taking on established players like Samsung. With impressive hardware, software updates, and security upgrades, the Oppo Find N2 Flip is set to attract consumers looking for a high-performing and reliable bendable phone.

First impressions

Although it is too early to make a definitive assessment of the Oppo Find N2 Flip, the initial impression is that it is a strong contender in the foldable smartphone market. The device’s outer screen provides more information than Samsung’s Z Flip phones, making it more useful for quick replies to messages, toggling phone settings, checking the time, and pausing audio.
