Apple, the technology giant, is reportedly developing an AI-powered health coaching service called Quartz. According to a new report by Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the service is designed to help users improve their exercise, eating habits and sleep by using AI and information from the Apple Watch to develop coaching programs tailored to their needs.
Monthly Fee Expected for the Service
Similar to Apple’s other offerings, the health coaching service is anticipated to come with a monthly subscription charge. Gurman has stated that the service is slated for launch next year, although there is a possibility of it being delayed or canceled.
Apple’s Health App to Get Tools for Tracking Emotions and Managing Vision Conditions
According to the report, Apple’s Health app is poised to receive capabilities for monitoring emotions and managing vision issues such as nearsightedness. Initially, the emotion tracker tool will enable users to document their mood, respond to inquiries about their day, and evaluate their progress over time.
Mood Tracker to Understand User’s Mood
As per the report, Apple‘s long-term goal is to leverage algorithms to comprehend a user’s mood using their speech, text, and other data. Additionally, the company is set to enhance its health features by introducing a rudimentary form of blood-pressure monitoring to the Apple Watch in the coming years. Although the feature will not reveal precise diastolic and systolic numbers, it will alert users if they are at risk of hypertension.
Launch of iPad Health App
The report also indicates that Apple plans to launch an iPad version of the iPhone Health app in the near future. The app’s introduction will enable users to view their health information, including electrocardiogram results, on a larger display. The upcoming iPad version of the Health app is expected to be included in iPadOS 17, which is set to be released later this year.
Apple’s Health Efforts
As Gurman pointed out, Apple initiated its health-related initiatives in 2014 by introducing the dedicated Health app, followed by the Apple Watch a year later. Since then, the firm has introduced numerous health features to its smartwatch, such as fall detection and sleep monitoring. According to reports, the company’s forthcoming mixed-reality headset will extend its current health initiatives, with a function that enables users to meditate while wearing the device.
In conclusion, Apple’s focus on health features is not new, but the development of the AI-powered health coaching service named Quartz and the other features indicate that the company is not slowing down on its efforts to improve user’s health.
